Namur: A city of many faces

There is a common misconception that the capital of Wallonia does not have enough to offer you to spend more than a day here. We will prove you wrong in this article.
We stayed in Namur for one night, and here is our itinerary 😊

Hotel

We stayed at the hotel Les Tanneurs. The location of the hotel is excellent, the bed is super comfortable and the breakfast is generous. The hotel's corridors are a bit of a labyrinth, but that's part of its charm.
If you want to combine your stay with a wellness session and your budget allows it, we recommend the Ne5t. The rooms are spacious and the hotel has a spa.

Food & Drinks

We couldn't come to Namur without tasting their specialities.
As for drinks, we let ourselves be tempted by La Houppe, the local beer. Good surprise, it is easy to drink!
We had lunch at the Bistro Belgo Belge (Estaminet du bbb). We tried the boulettes de Namur. This restaurant with local specialities is often fully booked, you can't eat there without a reservation.

Visits

We started the day by taking a ride on the new cable car. This gives a superb view of the city over the Sambre.
Once we reached the top, we continued with a guided tour of the large underground passages of the citadel. We didn't really know what to think of it, but the guide was passionate and fascinating. We learned a lot and we highly recommend this immersive tour. The sound effects and 3D animations are very well done and keep us in suspense until the end.
We continued the day with a visit to the centre of Namur focusing on street art. There are murals and street sculptures all over the city. The most famous one is undoubtedly a nice botanical metaphor signed by Mona Caron which means welcome for all in Namur. It shows people landing on a flower. Click here for the complete file.
We ended the day by strolling around the city. If we had more time, we would have also visited the Félicien Rops museum, a Vespa roadtrip or a visit to the Houppe brewery.

So, who's packing 😊?!
