Walking in Kalmthoutse Heide
Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide is one of the oldest and largest nature reserves in Belgium. It was founded in 1968 and now covers more than 1,000 ha.
We chose the 'Sheep' walk, the 2nd biggest walk the park has to offer.
|Starting point: De Vroente - Kalmthout||End Point: De Vroente - Kalmthout|

This beautiful 8.5km walk shows the diversity that the Kalmthoutse Heide has to offer. The trail goes through the woods, dunes, heaths and along fens. On the way, you pass the fire tower; a climb up this 25-metre-high tower offers a magnificent view over the vast Heide.
8,5km doesn't seem like that much and this walk is certainly not hilly, however you should definitely not underestimate it as there are some sections with loose sand and it is sometimes more difficult to walk.
- There are a total of 4 entry points, 2 of which are in Belgium. We chose to start from Kalmthout (De Vroente).
- In total there are 23 marked hiking trails in this nature park. You can follow the specific signs on the spot or download the gpx files in advance.
- Dogs are not allowed in the park.
